We offer a back-to-basics campground that is a blast from the past. A classic Kiwi camping experience complete with rustic facilities and waterless long-drop eco toilets. It’s a unique camping experience the kids and nature lovers love! We are located at the gateway to Banks Peninsula and on the way to Akaroa – just 45 minutes from Christchurch.
We pride ourselves on our environmental standards that help protect 5 hectares of native bush. We do this by adopting a zero waste policy, composting kitchen scraps, offering timed showers and having composting eco toilets.
We’re Banks Peninsula’s only dog-friendly campground! Well behaved dogs on leads at all times are welcome.
Secluded or open, shady or sunny, we have an area suitable for most campers. During holidays we will give preference to longer stays so please consider staying a few days. If you like the idea of camping in nature, surrounded in native birdlife, you will be glad you decided to stay the extra night!
We offer five hectares of native bush with silver ferns. The Manaia Native Habitat has mature trees such as totara and matai and birds including bellbirds, fantails, wood pigeons and a visiting tui.
