Tents sites

Tent sites

We offer a range of sunny and shady sites on flattish, grassy areas. We also have a specific child-free area for those seeking a more quieter stay.

On arrival, you can usually choose your preferred location, subject to availability. Please note during the peak holiday season, sites often get rather snug as we are a fairly small campground.

There may be an extra charge for large or over-sized tents relative to the number of people.
Please be aware of our cancellation policy before booking. Click to view.

SMS to pay no booking fees & free hot showers!

Based on a standard sized tent. Large tents/shelters may incur an additional charge.

Camp site options

The Glade – a short stroll across a walk bridge to sunny or shady areas on grass.

The Meadow – a slightly longer stroll across a walk bridge to multiple locations near the river with lots of shelter. Note, typically a child-free zone.

Under heritage walnut trees – always a campers’ favourite within the campsite, you get to enjoy camping in good company — two grandiose and heritage walnut trees.

Main camp area – the largest area that offers shady or sunny sites close to the outdoor kitchen and kids zone (and trampoline) – perfect place to keep a close eye on the kids!

About our campground

Think nostalgic camping — stepping back to how camping used to be growing up.

Our peaceful, safe haven is a perfect base for exploring Banks Peninsula. Kids play on the trampoline or in the river, exploring and being adventurous, while you sit back and relax knowing they’re safe.

We are a small, owner-operated Kiwi business and not affiliated with any chain of holiday parks. If you’re seeking somewhere special and memorable, this is absolutely it!

Kitchen area – Our outdoor kitchen area is basic and has limited seating and dining facilities. Access to a fridge/freezer, gas cookers, toaster, kettle and hot water.

Hot showers – Help conserve our precious water. Take less showers! Hot showers take a $2 coin for a 4-minutes. We have coins.

Picnic table and play area – Adjacent to the kitchen is our huge picnic table which can seat over 20 people. The playground is nearby so you can still cook and keep an eye on the kids!

Giant Swing – Our ‘Kowhai kisser’ giant swing out of a 200-year-old matai tree. Scary, a bit dangerous and thrilling!

Sun-safe camping – We have plenty of trees, so over busy times a gazebo may not be needed.

Waterless composting toilets – To conserve precious water and help the environment, we have installed dry, composting eco toilets that are chemically free and do not use water.
